| PlanetRead’s sister concern, BookBox, innovated the concept of ‘AniBooks’ or animated books to support early literacy and language skills. AniBooks are animated books or audio-visual stories for children, supported by Same Language Subtitling (SLS). SLS is a pedagogically sound and proven complement to reading development and language learning. Animated stories are subtitled in the same language as the narration, and every word is highlighted in perfect timing with the audio, reinforcing reading skills, automatically and subconsciously. |

| As part of development of AniBooks and assessing its impact on reading, PlanetRead in partnership with SRTT: (a) created two new AniBooks in Bhili and Santali each; (b) converted three existing AniBooks (available in major Indian languages) in the same two tribal languages; and (c) produced master copies of two VCDs with five AniBooks, each VCD comprising of five stories in tribal and regional languages. PlanetRead’s interventions have resulted in development of AniBooks in tribal languages for the first time. |
